A CALL TO ACTION

The beautiful planet Earth is on fire, depicting the global warming

Air is ‘un’breathable, Heat is ‘un’bearable, and earth is becoming ‘un’livable, this is all because humans are ‘un’kind towards nature.

The period of global warming is over, and we are now slowly entering the era of global burning.

On July 27, at a conference, U.N. Chief Antonio Guterres discussed the current state of global warming. He calls on all nations to act and combat the current situation. No justifications, hesitation, waiting, or delays, he urged.

Everything began as a result of the July 2023 data being made public. The data shows that this month’s summer was harsh in most places on the earth and that ocean temperatures had increased as well. This scorching sun hasn’t been seen in a thousand years, and July is on track to be the hottest month ever recorded. Since a few decades ago, climate change has begun to act out, and scientists have also projected its effects. However, the speed has been increasing faster than anticipated.

He discussed the fossil fuel industry and carbon pricing in his speech. Numerous summits have adopted numerous policies and measures to increase awareness of the issue, but the effectiveness and adherence to these measures are still in doubt.

The former Portuguese Prime Minister quoted that “The air is unbreathable. The heat is unbearable. And the level of fossil fuel profits and climate inaction is unacceptable”.

The COP28, the Africa Climate Summit, the G20 Summit, and the UN Climate Ambition Summit should begin acting and pushing both the developed and emerging economies to become sustainable and strive towards the future. They are not the only ones who must come up with a new concrete, workable, and credible climate action to quicken the speed of change; the government, corporations, companies, cities, regions, society, and everyone must do the same.

The use of the phrase “new normal” has increased after the introduction of Covid because it has now become so usual. Extreme weather and climate change have been added to the list of the new normal. This demonstrates just how harsh the weather has become and how the population is merely adjusting to it and finding it difficult to live life with this weather.

Change is now essential. A handful of the enacted policies have deadlines until 2040 and 2050, according to various forums. To ensure that the specified objectives are achieved, a solid professional team and a variety of options should be assembled.

New Delhi, India will host the G20 in 2023. There is a likelihood that the G20 summit will have a meaningful conversation about this subject and the ways to speed up the process to reach targets as soon as possible after the thought-provoking speech of UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.

Corporate world should investigate the environment along with their profits. ESG is on the rise, and CSR is becoming obsolete. CSR refers to sustainability tactics businesses use to guarantee that the business is operated ethically. Environmental, Social, and Governance, or ESG, factors are used to assess a company’s overall sustainability. To achieve sustainability and slow the speed of climate change, the responsibility must be accepted, and clear objectives must be developed.

If we don’t do anything, the next generation will accuse us of being destroyers. Are you prepared to take the blame?

Lets play a responsible role and protect us as well as the future.
